NAZARETH OUTLINES MARKET REGULATION AGENDA

Annette Nazareth, the Director of the SEC's Division of Market Regulation, outlined the regulatory agenda for that division at a recent Securities Traders Association conference. The Division is:

proposing rules and taking other actions to implement the Commdity Futures Modernization Act;
proposing rules and taking other actions to implement the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act;
addressing market data collection issues; and
working with the securities industry to shorten the settlement cycle to T+1.

Her staff will emphasize reviewing internal controls and risk managment systems at broker-dealers.
