INVESTMENT COMPANY AND INVESTMENT ADVISER ELECTRONIC RECORDKEEPING RULE ADOPTED
May 24, 2001
The SEC revised the recordkeeping rules applicable to investment companies and investment advisers to expand their ability to retain records using electronic storage media such as magnetic disks, tape and other digital storage media. The amendments were partly in response to the recently enacted Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN), which encouraged federal agencies to adopt rules that faciliate the use of electronic recordkeeping.
